Lizzy and Phil are a couple that love DIY from Hertfordshire, UK. Their latest project is a run-down house that they bought back in 2014 and spent the last few years renovating into a beautiful luxurious home.
Luckily for us, they documented the whole process on their Instagram page renovation HQ. Take a look at the pictures below, after £100,000 and four years, the house is unrecognizable!
Here are pictures of how the house looked like when they bought it back in 2014.
The most crazy part is that the married couple mostly worked only over weekends and evenings as they both work full time, in marketing and finance.
Lizzy told LADbible: "We have done roughly 90 percent of the work ourselves, from digging the foundations, plumbing the entire house, converting the garage into four rooms (garage was too narrow for a modern car), fitting kitchen, bathrooms, underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and installing the pool, amongst other things. During lockdown we tiled 100sqm of the back garden. It was back-breaking but a great achievement over the period."
They started by demolishing the house and then built a two-storey rear extension. Lizzy said:
"Joint planning allowed us both to gain a much bigger footprint in our extension and our neighbour is a bricklayer so he built both extensions at the same time."
The kitchen before the renovations.
And the kitchen after! Absolutely beautiful!
Lizzy told LadBible: "We love so many parts of the house, as we've made it into our space which works really well for us."
We really love how the fireplace turned out!
The house was a total flop before the couple worked on it.
We can't believe this is the same house!
Lizzy said to LadBible: "Online has been our biggest friend for getting confident in how to do things. Instagram, Houzz and Pinterest have been our go-to places for inspiration - compile a moodboard of all the images you like for inspiration. Decide on colours early doors; one of our biggest regrets is painting the house in neutral colours with the intention of repainting once we knew the colours we would ultimately prefer. Problem is repainting the house will be a mammoth job - would have been better to do it right from the star."
The bedroom after! Do you like the blue pop of color?
The couple told Ladbible: "The house has full home automation, which includes scene lighting, whole house audio, room-by-room smart heating and an integrated audio-visual system."
What do you think of the house now?
We hope Lizzy and Phil can finally enjoy their beautiful house after working this hard!
