Chicken and rice balls to die for: the ultimate family meal

Easy to do and enjoyed by all, this is the perfect recipe for a quick dinner! This comforting dish is ready in just 20 minutes.


For the meatballs:

  • 1 pound (454 g) ground chicken
  • 1 cup white rice (210 g), cooked and cooled
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ½ (60 g) cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) butter
  • 2 tablespoons (24 g) flour
  • 2 cups (500 mL) chicken broth
  • ¼ cup (65 mL) sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste


  1. In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the meatballs; chicken, cooked rice, egg, grated onion, garlic clove, salt and pepper - except the flour and the oil.
  2. Make balls with the preparation and roll them in flour.
  3. In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of oil.
  4. Cook the meatballs for about 7 minutes. Remove from the skillet.
  5. In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the flour while whisking.
  6. Stir in chicken broth, sour cream, paprika, salt and pepper.
  7. Bring the sauce to a boil and put the meatballs back in the skillet.
