One of the summer cocktails is certainly sangria. Refreshing and delicious melon sangria recipe made with a mix of melons, including watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melons.
Sangria is becoming more popular because it can be prepared in many versions, by changing the fruits and some other ingredients. The basic ingredient is, of course, wine, but this sangria is also good if you make it with sparkling grape juice, so it is alcohol free.
You will see, it is refreshing and the melon adds a very sweet taste. Well, alcohol also adds taste, otherwise we would not add it !
So to prepare this melon sangria here is the list of ingredients.
- 3 cups melon balls: mix honeydew, cantaloupe and watermelon
- 4 tablespoons of honey
- Lime juice
- 125 ml of Grappa or Brandy
- 1 bottle of white wine : Moscato , chilled
- 1.5 cup of sparkling water, chilled
** For the alcohol-free version, replace all the alcohol with grape or lemon sparkling water, it's up to you.
Place the melon balls in a large pitcher for sangria.
Add 2 tablespoons of honey, lime juice, ¼ cup brandy / grappa and mix gently.
Let stand for 2 hours in the fridge.
Take out the pitcher, pour the bottle of white wine and mix gently.
Add more honey if desired.
Refrigerate for another hour.
Right before serving, add ice, lime slices and fresh mint leaves to garnish.
Pour the sparkling water, gently stir with a cocktail spoon and serve !
