Who doesn't like watermelon ? It is a delicious and so refreshing fruit! However, it’s not always clear which one to choose when shopping.

We want a juicy, tasty and ripe melon, but not too much.

Know that you don't have to be a pro farmer to make an informed choice!

You can tell if a watermelon is ripe without cutting it.

To help you out, here are some tips from experienced farmers that will help you choose the best watermelon of all time!

1. Look for stains

The yellow spot, called the field spot, is where the melon landed on the ground. Ripe watermelons always have creamy yellow or even orangey-yellow spots, not white.

2. Check the "webbing"

These brown spots on the melon mean that the bees have touched the pollinating parts of the flower several times. The higher the pollination, the sweeter the fruit!

3. Find the sex of the melon!

Many people do not know that farmers differentiate melons by gender. For example, the "boys" are larger, have an elongated shape and a bland taste. While the "girls" have a rounded shape and are very sweet.

4. Pay attention to the size

It is better to choose neither the largest nor the smallest melon of the batch. Take a medium-sized fruit. And remember, whether large or small, the watermelon should seem heavy for its size.

5. Inspect the tail

A dried tail indicates that the melon is ripe. If the tail is green, it probably means that the fruit has been picked too early and will not be ripe.
