When you're pregnant, morning sickness is really one of the worst things to endure!
Some women don't vomit too much, while others can't keep anything in. There are others that really don't know anything about this.
If you are one of the unlucky ones who are struggling with morning sickness, know that there is a positive point to your misfortune! According to a recent study, expectant mothers with morning sickness tend to have smarter babies!
Researchers at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, studied 121 children between the ages of three and seven, many of their mothers had morning sickness when they were expecting them.
All children in the study had normal development, but children whose mothers were nauseated in the morning had higher scores on IQ, language and memory.
"The results suggest that nausea and vomiting during pregnancy are not harmful and may actually enhance the long-term mental development of children", said Dr. Irena Nulman, principal investigator of this study.
Scientists do not yet know what really causes morning sickness, but it is thought that changes in the particular hormones needed for placental development may be a factor.
Although there is no cure for morning sickness, it usually lasts only during the first trimester, especially between the fourth and twelfth to fourteenth weeks. For a small percentage of future moms, unfortunately it lasts longer...
You should know that there are some natural tips to relieve morning sickness. For example, eating ginger and nibble throughout the day.
But in short, if you have already suffered or are currently suffering from morning sickness, comfort yourself by telling yourself that your children will probably be smarter than the average of their peers!
And if in addition your child begins to be passionate about dinosaurs, you've hit the jackpot!
