Saving money is one of the hardest thing to do, along with losing weight! Yet, it is one of the most popular New Year's resolution. If you are amongst these people who wish to set aside some money in 2021 we might have an idea for you!
The "Envelope Challenge" is an easy way to save small amounts of money throughout the year. This way of saving money could be easier for a lot of people as they are still left with most of their paycheques to spend on necessities or fun items.
Cari Nicole Floyd shared her idea on the Kitchen Fun With My 3 Sons page:
"We did the envelope challenge this year and decided today we would open all our envelopes! Yay for an easy way to save up some Christmas money!!!We just labeled 52 envelopes $1-$52, then randomly picked an envelope each week and paid the amount.
Me & Josh alternated who paid each week. We would draw an envelope on Monday and have to pay the envelope by Friday. We also had a “???” envelope where we had Lily write a number in it to be a surprise to whichever one of us drew that one... it was $89 lol.
If you do the $1-$52 and do it each week all year, it adds up to be $1,378 saved! We opened ours a little early so ours was a little less than that. We can’t wait to start over beginning January 1st, 2021 and do it all again."
All you need are empty envelopes! But make sure they are not in order so it will be a surprise to find out what number you picked!
What do you think of the idea? Will you try it for 2021? What are your new year's resolutions?
