The Hernandez are family of four with a pretty normal life...except they are living in a school bus! To be more precise, Hannah and Ian Hernandez live in a 187-square-foot school bus with their dog and two kids.
"We were actually living in a townhome that previous year," Hannah told Insider. "And when our lease was running out, we knew we wanted to own something, but we also knew that we wouldn't qualify for a house."
"At that time, we didn't have any kids, and we were traveling really frequently," she continued. "When it came time to decide what was next, one thing kind of led to another."
The couple spent a year and half transforming the 1991 school bus into their home. They have been living this lifestyle since 2018!
The front of the bus is occupied by the kitchen and living area. The couch pulls out to a bed and is also a place for the babies' car seat, strapped of course!
Surprisingly, the kitchen has lots of counter space! "In our townhome, we spent a lot of time in the kitchen," Hannah said. "So we knew that was going to be a big part of our bus."
The bus has two separate bathroom areas; one for the toilet and the other for the shower.
There is also a beautiful nursery space with a traditional crib and a hanging bassinet!
The parents bed is located just behind the nursery.
"I think it's really cool that we get to be able to take her to all these places that some kids don't ever get to experience or don't experience until they're old enough to take themselves," Hannah said to Insider.
