First you need to freeze some cabbage leaves in a plastic bag by putting them in the freezer. When the gout pain sets in, place the leaves around the painful area, wrap a towel around the area, and let the warmth of your skin thaw the cabbage leaves naturally. This will help with the pain.
Take a few cabbage leaves, cut and crush them with a rolling pin until juice begins to appear. Then place the leaves and the juice on the painful joint and wrap a gauze bandage around to keep the leaves in place.
Chill a few cabbage leaves in the freezer until cold but still foldable. Then wrap them around your feet and sit with your feet elevated for around 30 minutes. Cabbage has great water absorbing qualities, so it will draw excess fluid from your feet.
It is very rare for a person to be allergic to cabbage, but if you notice any abnormal swelling or irritation on your skin, stop the treatments immediately. Consult a health care practitioner if irritation persists or worsens.
