The COVID-19 crisis has changed everybody's daily life with offices, restaurants and store being closed, one can wonder if life will every be the same. Most grocery stores have remained opened as they are essential services - we still all have to eat!
However, the crisis seemed to have entered its most dangerous stretch to date. The U.S. government is advising against making any trips to even the most essential places for now - especially the next two weeks. Deborah Birx, the White House’s Coronavirus response coordinator warned Americans:
“The next two weeks are extraordinarily important,” Birx said in an April 4 press conference. “This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe.”
That being said, you shouldn't panic there is safe ways to get your groceries. First, grocery stores will remain open and there will not be any food shortage. This is why you should plan ahead - but do not hoard on food! Have a list of items you need and will eat for the next two weeks. Stock up on essentials staples but don't forget proteins.
Also, there is so many other ways to get your groceries! You can have them delivered to your home or do a curbside pickup. You can also ask a neighbour or family member to pick up your groceries if they are already heading out. Remember, if we all do an effort now then faster things will go back to normal!
If you decide to do on big grocery trip, be safe, and wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your face!
